Legal Research and Writing Internship

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will serve as a key support member of the legal team. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer, a highly analytical thinker, and a highly productive worker.

Duties:

Assist with research and drafting of fact sheets, legal briefs, news briefs, and reports on specific assigned issues and cases.
Locate and collect relevant documents and data from sources such as WestLaw, Lexisnexis other electronic databases, libraries, and government publications.

Qualifications:

Specific Requirements for this Position

A matriculating 2L or current 3L with relevant work or internship experience in a related field. A current LL.M. candidate in taxation or employee benefits is a plus.

General knowledge of accounting standards, taxation and the I.R.C., the federal regulatory and legislative processes.

Specific knowledge in at least one of the following issue areas: tax law, PPACA, healthcare law, insurance law, or accounting standards.
Excellent writing skills and Strong organizational and administrative skills; with keen attention to detail.

Ability to develop work plans, set deadlines, work well with minimal supervision, prioritize assignments, and organize multiple projects and duties simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, know when to act independently and when to consult for advice on decision-making.
Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office, email clients, and credible Internet research tools.

Ability to quickly gain an understanding of additional strategic areas or technology as needed.
Ability to represent Burri and Company responsibly and communicate effectively in various settings on a broad range of issues.

Salary:

This is an unpaid internship. Minimum stipend possible.
