Deadline for Health Exchange Citizen Status

Starting this week, the Federal Government will be sending out warning letters to over 300,000 people informing them that they may lose their Marketplace health coverage. These letters are requesting that the recipient prove that they are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or has eligible immigration status.

The deadline for providing the documents is September 5, 2014. If the deadline is missed, the Marketplace health coverage will end on September 30, 2014. In the event that your coverage is terminated, you may ask for an appeal.

If you receive one of these letters there are two way to send your documents to the Marketplace:

1. Upload the documents online. Log in to your Marketplace account on HealthCare.gov by clicking on “Log in” at the top of the page. Once you’re logged in, select your current application and then use the menu on the left side of your screen to click on Application Details. On the next screen, you will see a list of any data matches issues in your application. Following the steps for each inconsistency to upload the documents needed to fix the issue; or

2. Mail a copy of the documents to the address below as proof that the individual(s) listed is either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or has an eligible immigration status.
